It’s time to clean house and get rid of all those old devices that don’t work and all the old bills and documents crowding your closets. Bag it up and bring it to the Electronic Recycling & Confidential Paper Shredding Event, Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017.

Due to the success of last spring’s e-cycling and shredding event, the Aramark sustainability team is hosting the event again. Drop off that old desktop computer, phone, and confidential paperwork in front of the Knight Center and Knight Hall on Snow Way Drive, Oct. 25, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.

“An estimated 175 contributors dropped off approximately 3,500 pounds of paper and 5,000 pounds of electronic items in March,” said Gene Castellitto, Aramark General Manager of The Charles F. Knight Executive Education & Conference Center. “Our sustainability team, in conjunction with the Washington University Office of Sustainability and IT Information and Security Office, is proud to host another event.”

Castellitto adds that university certified vendors will shred any paper on site, and will securely and safely recycle any electronic items. There are some fees for electronic items; see below.

In the final weeks before graduation, various awards for student achievement, excellence in teaching, and community service will be announced. But Olin’s MBA students upstaged the awards season when they offered a special recognition to the Aramark staff that keeps the Knight Center, three retail outlets in Bauer Hall, Knight Hall, and Simon Hall, and innumerable school events running smoothly.

In a letter to Dean Mark Taylor, Rob Garwitz wrote on behalf of the MBA students:

“Gene Castellitto’s Aramark staff deserves our highest recognition for their level of performance and professionalism that can only be classified as “excellence,” a measure we all strive for as aspiring business leaders.”

A poster size thank you card signed by MBA students.

Castellitto, Aramark General Manager, acknowledged that many staff members were present when MBA students presented a large thank you note after raising a banner above the Graduate Programs office. Castellitto also confirmed that a representative from the Graduate Business School Association is tentatively scheduled to address the Aramark staff at the Annual Employee Appreciation Day Celebration later this month.

Thank you Aramark staff for all you do!!

Staging an event for 1,200+ guests, 90 vendors, with non-stop food and drink takes great planning and efficient staffing and the Aramark staff carried it off flawlessly for last fall’s Startup Connection held on all three levels of the Knight Hall-Bauer Hall Atrium. The event was recognized by the International Special Events Society – St. Louis Chapter as a finalist for the Best Logistical Event for 2015 at the annual Louie Awards, March 4.

Aramark, the company that provides facilities management and food services to Olin, organizes hundreds of events each year in our four buildings.

Gene Castellitto, Aramark General Manager for The Charles F. Knight Executive Education & Conference Center said Startup Connection was one of the biggest events in the new buildings since the Dedication Ceremony two years ago:

“This event involved removing all of the public area furniture from Knight and Bauer Halls, and re-setting the two buildings for 90 vendors and 1200 + guests. I want to recognize Alisa Kelly, Conference Planning Manager, for the countless hours and detailed coordination efforts required to make this event a success.  In addition, I would like to thank John Schuler, Brian Blankenship, Donnie Zavala, and Joe Banstetter for their contributions in making this event a success.”

In 2015, The Knight Center won a Louie award for the Best Overall On-Premise Catered Event for the Scholars in Business dinner held in the Atrium.
