The Weston Career Center hosts alumni panels throughout the year where alumni share advice on job interviews and what it’s like to work at major corporations as well as startups. In February, alumni from Amazon, Dell, eBay, and MasterCard, in addition to a guest from Square, were here.

Olin’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter held its annual banquet on campus December 7, 2015 with approximately 70 attendees including representatives from Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, Protiviti and Rubin Brown.  A special video was created by the students to thank and acknowledge support from Olin’s faculty.

Beta Alpha Psi is the honorary organization for finance students. The evening included a keynote speaker, awards and buffet dinner along with a networking reception. The event was co-sponsored by Olin’s Weston Career Center.




Olin’s MBA Emerging Leaders club held its annual career symposium on Dec. 1, 2015, co-sponsored by the Weston Career Center. The club’s founder, Leslie Onkenhout, of Nike, set the stage as our keynote presenter, followed by a lively discussion facilitated by Professor Ray Sparrowe. The panel discussion included alumni and non-alums from Edward Jones, Build-A-Bear, IBM and Vi-Jon.

IMG_4349The event was attended by more than 80 students. Company representatives from Nestle Purina, PwC Strategy, Wells Fargo, Spectrum Brands and Epharmix hosted tables to engage with students throughout the evening.

During Olin’s annual New York Career Trek, more than 50 BSBA students gained insights from alumni and hiring managers on what it takes to succeed in the Big Apple.

Sponsored by the Weston Career Center, the trek was scheduled over 2 days and included two tracks, finance and marketing.   On the final evening, both tracks participated in an Alumni/Student Roundtable co-hosted by WCC and Olin’s Alumni & Development.  This event is similar to “speed dating” with timed group “table” rotations providing each student the opportunity to connect with an additional 30+ alumni from firms and industries across New York.

Finance track visits included Cain Brothers, Nomura Securities, Morgan Stanley, JPMorganChase, Goldman Sachs, Sagent Advisors, Guggenheim, Tyrian Investments and Elliott Management.

Marketing track visits included Google, Bloomingdale’s, Seefood Media, Interbrand, Distillery and Time Warner Media Lab.

 




Today, the Weston Career Center launched a Video Library on OlinCareers, packed with career development and job search-related tips presented by leading experts in the market.

VideoAlso included are videos produced by the Weston Career Center on resume writing, effective interviewing, networking and self-introductions, plus how to make the most out of all the premium technology resources available to Olin students.
