Move over New York, San Francisco, and Seattle…St. Louis is one of the cool cities now where millennials want to live. According to a story in The Christian Science Monitor, the hottest cities for millennials include St. Louis where there has been, “a 138 percent increase in the percentage of educated 25-to-34-year-olds living in close-in urban neighborhoods between 2000 and 2012.” Read article here.

Developers broke ground on a multi-million dollar entertainment district next to Busch Stadium this month, but Professor Glenn MacDonald cautions city planners about the effort required to maintain an urban renewal project of this size.

MacDonald, John M. Olin Distinguished professor of economics and strategy, points to examples of downtown revitalization projects in Kansas City and Louisville that have been challenged in their efforts to bring new life to abandoned urban centers. KMOV-TV, channel 4’s Sharon Reed talked to MacDonald about the long-term strategies needed to make Ballpark Village in St. Louis a hit.
