Christy Perry of the Faculty Support Department has been chosen as this year’s Christine Hatina Award recipient. Prof. Anjan Thakor suggested creating the award as a way to honor a deserving administrative, non-management staff member, and in fond remembrance of our colleague, Chris Hatina.

Many Olin faculty members personally contributed so that the award will be funded and presented annually to the Olin staff member who most exemplifies the attributes Chris Hatina displayed in providing outstanding administrative service to the Business School faculty.

Nominations were accepted from faculty members and there were many worthy candidates.

Christy’s dedication as an administrative assistant to numerous faculty members, as the event planner for the annual Dopuch Accounting Conference, and acting as the
School’s Qualtrics Administrator, in addition to her professionalism and helpfulness made her an outstanding choice as this year’s honoree.  Her contributions to Olin are many and her hard work are gratefully acknowledged.

A cake & coffee reception will be held in honor of Christy in Simon Hall, Room 113, from 3:00 – 4:30 pm on Friday, May 9. All faculty and staff are invited to attend.

‘Eat as many as you can catch’ is the mantra at the breakfast for graduation volunteers. The flying pancakes from Chris’ Cakes has become something of an annual tradition for the dozens of staff members who help make the graduation ceremonies run so smoothly.

Preparing to launch a flying pancake hot off the grill!

Held the Monday after graduation in the Simon Hall courtyard and hosted by the Marketing & Communications’ Events Team, the flying pancake breakfast is a yummy treat and great way to celebrate the end of the academic year.

Kudos to Alicia Heath, new events director, on her first successful May graduation ceremonies held on May 17.  There’s one more ceremony to go: Executive MBAs graduate this Saturday, May 25.  Congrats to grads and volunteers!

Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” was on the radio and the very first Die Hard movie was #1 in theaters that year. And four young professionals were embarking on their careers at Olin. Those very same pros celebrated a quarter century of employment at Washington University this month. They were feted at the annual reception at the Chancellor’s residence where engraved silver trays are presented to the staff and faculty with 25 years of service to the university.

Olin salutes these colleagues on their silver anniversary!
