It wouldn’t be surprising to find marketing professor Martin Sneider leading his students on a research adventure through a Patagonia retail store, but what was he doing in the real Patagonia, the one in South America?

Dean Gupta tipped me off to Sneider’s recent trip to Patagonia.

Prof. Sneider shared these photos via email and told me the trip fulfilled a long-time desire to visit the region located at the southern end of South America , straddling the borders of Argentina and Chile.

Here’s Sneider’s Twitter-like account of his trip:

“So, I always wanted to go to Tierra Del Fuego and finally did it:  Ushuaia and El Calafate. Spectacular scenery: Perito Moreno Glacier, Upsala Glacier, and the Fitzroy Massif.

Extraordinarily rugged and beautiful, but alas no luxury goods stores to be found!

Those will have to wait until May 12 when we start a different kind of trek: Milan, Paris, and London.  Gucci, Loro Piana, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Burberry will be highlights.”

I had asked Sneider if he visited any luxury goods stores because he’s teaching his amazing luxury goods marketing course again this spring. The course includes a two-week European tour of famous fashion houses, meetings with designers, and marketing gurus who manage legendary, global brands.

Stay tuned for news about Prof. Sneider’s next adventure to Europe in May with his students.
