A research paper by professors Daniel Elfenbein, Barton Hamilton, and Todd Zenger* has been selected as the winner of the INFORMS Technology Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Section (TIMES) Best Paper Award for best innovation and entrepreneurship paper published in 2010 in INFORMS journals.

The paper is,”The small firm effect and the entrepreneurial spawning of scientists andengineers,” published in Management Science, Vol. 56, No. 4, pp. 659-681.

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) is the largest society in the world for professionals in the field of operations research (O.R.), management science, and analytics.

This is the first year of the INFORMS Technology, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship best paper competition. The INFORMS TIMES section leadership chose a system in which the best papers for the annual competition would be narrowed down for the competition to the top-six papers by citation from five years earlier (this year 2010). The best paper and a runner-up were then selected by a panel of senior leaders in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

This year, after narrowing down the papers to those with top citations, James Utterback, Arnoud De Meyer, Dundar Kocaoglu, Nitin Joelker and Juliana Hsuan served as judges on the best paper selection panel.
