April 22 is officially Earth Day, but here at WashU we have activities that span 10 days. Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone during Earth Week: Get your hands dirty volunteering at a local farm, enjoy a Green Monday meal, talk politics, socialize during Happy Hour, or learn about how to get involved year-round through a student group or university program. To view more information and a full list of events, you can visit the Office of Sustainability calendar or join the Facebook event.

On Saturday, April 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Olin presents an opportunity to learn more about investing in an environmentally responsible way. Attend the “Environmentally Responsible Investing” presentation by Dan Conner (MBA ’12) and Jake Barnett with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management as they discuss market space, new ideas for investments, and the challenges and opportunities of these kinds of investments.

Presentation will be in Emerson Auditorium, Knight Hall.  A reception in the Frick Forum immediately follows the presentation.

You can keep celebrating Earth Day all weekend long with these events in and around campus where we celebrate sustainable living all year long.

The first “Earth Day” was celebrated in 1970 and campus has been buzzing with all kinds of activities and events this week to mark the occasion. At Olin, the Net Impact club teamed up with the Runners Mean Business club to sponsor a clothing swap and fun run. Despite the gorgeous weather, runners apparently preferred to hunker down in group study rooms working on final projects, papers, and studying for exams. But donations to the clothing swap were generous!

Take a look at the video by WUSTL undergrad Ricardo Solis.

Thanks to Terra Neilson, MBA/MSW’16; Kyle Steiner, MBA’16; Ken Mao, MBA’16, and Eli Gerson, MBA’15 for their help with this post.

The broccoli and green beans in your salad may be really fresh and locally-sourced, if the plan proposed by winners of this year’s Olin Sustainability Case Competition is implemented. The OSCC challenged teams to propose sustainable, environmentally-friendly solutions to make dining services on campus more green. Meet the winners and hear about their plan in this video.
