Students of the Master of Science in Finance (Quantitative Track) program visited financial firms in Chicago, namely Discover Financial Services, Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and Markit, on Jan 30th as part of an event organized by the Olin Quantitative Finance Club.

The visits were aimed at providing networking opportunities with company executives and increasing their knowledge about the firms and the quantitative finance careers they offer. Various job functions such as risk management, quantitative research, and financial data analysis were discussed. The event also included a dinner with MSFQ alumni in Chicago.

The Quant Finance Club leadership team organized the fourth annual Chicago career trek in October.  The Chicago trip is an opportunity for Master of Science in Finance (MSF) students to speak with recruiters about internship and job opportunities, take tours, and meet Wash U alumni working at potential employers.

This year, the trip was a big success! It was planned in conjunction with the Barclays Asia Networking event held at the University of Chicago. Students interested in a career in Asia, attended this event the day before the company visits.

On the day of the company visits, students met with recruiters at IMC Financial Markets,  Morgan Stanley, TransMarket Group, and Markit. Students made some great connections with alumni and recruiters!
