It gives me great pleasure to announce that Professor Hong Liu has been appointed the Fossett Distinguished Professor in Finance.
This appointment recognizes Professor Liu for his contributions in research, teaching and leadership in the finance area. Prof. Liu received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and joined Olin in 1998.

The Fossett Distinguished Professorship was established in 1996 by Steve Fossett, MBA’68. Fossett died in a plane crash in 2007. He was a successful businessman and a record-setting aviator, sailor, and adventurer. He served as a Washington University Trustee and as a member of Olin’s National Council. His wife Peggy Fossett continues her support of this chair.
