Global Master of Finance dual degree students attended a gala dinner at Singapore Management University (SMU), on October 25, 2013, in celebration of the 10-year success of the SMU Masters in Applied Finance (MAF) program. MAF alumni, students, and distinguished guests were in attendance. Global 2

The event commenced with a professional forum followed by dinner.

Students in the Olin-SMU Global Master of Finance program, launched this summer, are currently studying in Singapore and will return to St. Louis next summer for their final semester.  They will graduate with two degrees: the MSF from Olin and the MAF from SMU.

Olin welcomes to campus the inaugural class of the new Global Master of Finance Dual Degree Program in collaboration with Singapore Management University! The cohort will travel between St. Louis and Singapore to earn degrees from both universities.

Chancellor Wrighton welcomes Global Finance program to St. Louis.

This unique group of 22 students started arriving in St. Louis June 26 and attended orientation from July 1-3. Staff and faculty from various departments across campus were excited to welcome the students at orientation.

Unlike other Specialized Masters students, this group of graduate students reside on-campus in the Millbrook apartments located in the northwestern corner of the Danforth campus near “the Village”.

Classes began July 8 for the Global students and will conclude August 5.  After this first summer of intensive coursework at Olin, Global students will travel to Singapore to complete their fall and spring semesters at Singapore Management University (SMU). They’ll return to St. Louis next summer  to for their final semester at Olin, including immersion experiences in New York and Washington DC.

In addition to studying, the Global students have had a busy social schedule.  They have enjoyed a social BBQ; a trip to a Cardinals baseball game; a visit to the St. Louis Federal Reserve hosted by Professor Bill Emmons (photo above);

a networking lunch with Washington University alumnus, Albert Yuk-Keung Ip; and a relaxing happy hour at Blueberry Hill.

This historic cohort is off to a great start and Olin is very excited with the successful launch of the Global Master of Finance Dual Degree Program!
