Washington University in St. Louis opens its 118th season of college football Saturday, Sept. 6, at home against Ohio Northern University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (CT) at Francis Field. The Bears have compiled an all-time record of 502-465-28 (.519) in 117 seasons of football on the Danforth Campus.
Wash U Head coach Larry Kindbom returns 15 starters (Offense-8; Defense-5; Special Teams-2) from last year’s squad, which posted an 8-3 overall record and won its second straight University Athletic Association (UAA) title with a 3-0 mark. The Bears also advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the second time in school history.

THE SERIES – Washington U. and Ohio Northern are meeting for the first time in school history.
THE COACHES – Head coach Larry Kindbom (Kalamazoo, 1974) is in his 26th season at Washington University, with a record of 156-95 (.622). His 156 wins rank him as the all-time winningest coach at Washington U. Overall, in 31 seasons, Kindbom is 184-125-1 (.595).
Ohio Northern head coach Dean Paul (Mount Union, 1990) has led the Polar Bears to a 68-34 (.667) overall record and an appearance in the national rankings in eight of 10 seasons. In 15 seasons as a head coach at the NCAA Division III level, Paul has posted a 108-46 overall record (.701). He came to ONU after five seasons at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky.
