Graybar CEO inspires sophomores

Kathleen Mazzarella, Chairman, President, and CEO of electrical and networking products distributor Graybar, attended the last official gathering of the BSBA sophomore Mentor Program this past week. She was joined by Beverly Propst, Senior VP Human Resources and Graybar Board member.

Kathy did a wonderful job sharing with the entire group details about her experiences along the way to reaching the top leadership position at Graybar.  She encourages women to take those stretch opportunties offered by senior leadership, which could lead to career advancement.

Kathy is a 34-year veteran with employee-owned Graybar, the second-largest privately held company based in St. Louis with $5.66 billion in 2013 revenue.

    Jim Hoagland hired me in 1985 as General Manager. I really thought the world of that little guy! Wish I had a real phpto. Might have a printed one from an old annual report.

In 1986 Their Ceo Mr Jim Hoagland was in Baltimore for a meeting.At the time I was a great Operating Manager.He inspects my 40,000 sq ft warehose looks me in the eyes and says great job Den. What does he do next? He shakes my Freaking handI have asked Graybar Corporate for a picture of this legend. Their response was they don’t give out pictures of former employees!!! I left Graybar and started my own CO. while there I became a salesman.How good was I. I sold ALL the lighting used in construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Major jobs at JohnsHopkins, St Anthony, Bon Se Cours and Church home Hospital. Please show your integrity and get me any picture of Jim Hoagland. Den WWJD
