LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, “P&G and Energizer decide battery business needs recharging,” Oct. 28, 2014, column by David Nicklaus. “There was a lot of thinking about how batteries and other consumer products might do better in the same company, because there were all these synergies,” says Glenn MacDonald, professor of economics and strategy at Washington University’s Olin School of Business. “The judgment on that has been pretty negative. It’s not surprising that both companies would come to the same conclusion at about the same time.”
