Written in stone

The generosity of George and Carol Bauer is forever etched in stone at the entrance to the new building that bears their name. The stone archway facing Mudd Field will be one of several gateways to the Olin complex currently under construction.

A $10 million gift from George and Carol Bauer through the Bauer Foundation and a $15 million bequest from Charles F. and Joanne Knight, provided the lead gifts for the 175,000 square foot project.

Bauer Hall and Knight Hall will be united by a soaring glass atrium and provide much needed classroom, office, and meeting space for the business school. The complex will include a 300-seat auditorium, an amphitheater-like Forum, innovative learning labs, and a cafe among other unique features.

The design of the business school complex is a collaboration among two architectural firms, Moore Ruble Yudell, architect-of-record, and Mackey Mitchell Architects, associate architect, and two mechanical engineering firms, Buro Happold and William Tao & Associates. Tarlton Corp. is the construction manager.
