CFOs debate corp finance

Olin Business School and the Wells Fargo Advisors-Center for Financial and Accounting Research (WFA-CFAR) hosted the 10th annual Corporate Finance Conference No. 1-2.  A highlight of the conference was the “Corporate Financial Policy” session featuring Jan Bertsch of Sigma-Aldrich, Michael Crews of Peabody Energy, and Wade Miquelon of Walgreen Co. (Bertsch and Crews are members of the WFA-CFAR advisory board.)

The panelists discussed the topic “Financing and Payout Decisions in the Current Corporate Economic Environment”.  Professor Mark Leary led the group discussion about a variety of corporate financing topics such as project valuation, financing and investment decisions and how the current economic conditions affect financing decisions.

It was a lively and informative discussion that took a deeper look into how business decisions differ for three firms that are different from each other in product, structure and in this case, capital financing.
