Over the weekend, Olin lost another dear friend and supporter, Doris Hoffman Kohn, BSBA 1950, beloved wife of the late Gunther N. Kohn, BSBA 1950, who passed away in May of last year. Doris and Gunther met on a blind date while students at Washington University.
After getting married, Doris and Gunther launched and worked as partners in their family business, Jerome Group. They grew it into a very successful commercial print and direct mail company with more than 300 employees, before selling it in 2006.
The Kohns were well-known philanthropists and were founding sponsors of Olin’s Scholars in Business Scholarship Program. They also helped establish the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center in Creve Coeur, MO, by contributing to the creation of learning stations that tell the stories of Holocaust survivors.
Doris’s family and many friends have established the Gunther and Doris Kohn Memorial Scholarship at Olin Business School in their honor. If you wish to make a gift in support of this scholarship, please call Nancy Barter at (314) 935-9053.
Doris Kohn is survived by her daughter Julie (Dan Swift), son Andy (DeeDee) and three grandsons.
