Scholarships go beyond tuition

“Getting to finally sit down for coffee this week with my Scholars in Business Scholarship Sponsor, Dan Manoogian, BSBA’82, was truly a highlight of my semester thus far,” said Lexie Sprague, BSBA, Class of 2017. “It was so fun to be able to share with him everything that I’m doing at Olin and on the soccer field.”

Sprague is a member of the WashU women’s varsity soccer team that concluded a successful 2015 season as NCAA Division III National Runner-Up.

Sprague got to meet Manoogian when he came to campus recently to lecture in Olin’s Introduction to Entrepreneurship Course. Manoogian has successfully founded and exited three startups in addition to working in banking. He is also a member of the Washington University Alumni Board of Governors.

“Hearing about Dan’s day-to-day life and new-found interest in painting was also something I really enjoyed,” Lexie, who is majoring in marketing and psychology, said. “We even found out that this summer I will be interning a couple blocks away from where he lives! I am incredibly thankful for all of the opportunities I am able to have because of Dan, and I really look forward to continuing our relationship over the years.”

Olin is grateful to our many friends and alumni who support scholarships for our students.
